Imaji is an Indonesian filmmaker whose work blends fiction and nonfiction to examine how economic precarity reshapes family, identity, and morality in contemporary Indonesia. His short film Serious People?! (2024) screened in the Emerging Program at the 19th Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival, while he also works as a first assistant director on Indonesian feature films.

Through Wrap Me in Plastic, he explores the financial pressures confronting Indonesia’s post reformation society where the weakening currency, rising living costs, and expectations of filial duty push families toward unconventional ways of earning and assigning value. Drawing from the proverb “mati satu tumbuh seribu”, the film explores how people become emotionally and economically replaceable, questioning what remains of love when human relationships are measured by utility.
