After Jie’s death, Jess receives a mysterious call from him, only to realize he has returned not to be saved, but to help her burn the bridges that have kept her anchored to him.

“I want to come back as moss, so I can cling to the tree forever.”

Moss was born from a period of personal stagnation, where the weight of a loss felt like a physical presence I couldn’t shake. This film is my attempt to visualize that “clinging”—the desperate, beautiful, yet suffocating way we hold onto those who are gone. By blending Taiwanese traditions with a modern ghost story, I wanted to explore the moment when love stops being a comfort and starts becoming a cage. This isn’t just a story about death; it’s about the violent, necessary act of reclaiming one’s own life.
