Eileen Yoon is a Korean-American director and DP based in Brooklyn, NY. She is an artist who works with various mediums, which aids her use of color and meticulous framing to push narratives forward. Embracing her multicultural upbringing in her work, she redefines the meaning of “home” in her recent film, Chimera. Growing up in Seoul, she felt foreign to her Korean ethnicity and American nationality, and defines herself as a cultural chimera. The film is structured to reflect how the past inevitably weaves into the present to shape who we are today. It also explores the feeling of belonging everywhere and nowhere, lost between two cultures and unable to fully identify ourselves. Through these experiences, she has found that home is wherever and with whoever we find comfort.
