It is obvious from the first frame that a tremendous amount of work went into this film, even by the high standards of feature animation. Can you discuss the seven year process?
Tomm Moore: The story development went hand in hand with the art development.

How did you find this story?
David Lowery: It was a true story about this guy whose life was too good to be true in terms of a narrative.

What drew you to this material and inspired you to direct the film?
Sian Heder: I came to this because it was originally a studio film, and Lionsgate was looking to do a remake of La famille Bélier, a French film that came out in 2014.

Can you talk about making the transition from athletics to a visual and creative artist?
Savanah Leaf: In a way, I think a film is this combination of working in a team environment.

What did your writing process entail?
It kind of had the whiff of destiny, from the time I read the book.

Randall, what gripped you about this story and these characters?
Randall Park: I first read the graphic novel when it came out back in 2007, and I was just mesmerized by it. A lot of that has to do with Adrian’s writing, but also the style of the art.

In a narrative film, a character might have some piece of wardrobe or a prop that helps them inform the character. How did you work together to develop the voice of Snake?
Marc Maron: When we first got there, they showed me the sketches for the character but I think they were still trying to figure out how to get him to move.

How did you develop the wonderful physicality of Greta’s character Brooke? She emotes with her entire body.
Well first, Greta was born. And grew up into that person.

This is a somewhat personal film for you— and it’s your first feature. Can you discuss how you came to make this film?
Kathryn Ferguson: I grew up in Northern Ireland. My father, actually, was a huge fan of Sinéad’s in the late ’80’s, when The Lion and The Cobra came out

What attracted you to this project?
Kate Winslet: When I first read the script, I was really taken by the physical demands.

As a producer on the film, can you talk about the struggles of shooting abroad?
JR: Turns out you can’t just march into Yosemite with some horses and light some fires. It’s a lot tougher to shoot in some of the places we were looking for.

Mr. McConaughey, how did you approach Cooper?
I always saw Cooper as a man out of time.

Was there an importance to telling this story at this particular time?Jamie Dack: I was writing this script at a certain time in my life where I was starting to look back on some relationships I had when I was younger—one in particular. I think due to my age, and time passing, I had started to look back on it differently.
